Washington State’s aging transportation infrastructure needs revitalization and expansion to accommodate for a rapidly growing population. This isn’t just an investment in the economy; it’s a vital public safety issue. Every year, we are reminded of just how much still needs to be done, with serious accidents occurring regularly on some of our state’s most dangerous roads, located right here in the 9th LD: Highway 395, Route 14, Route 26, and Route 195. Spending money to correct these hazardous conditions won’t just reduce traffic incidents, but also add significantly to our economy: many of these roads are vital commercial trucking routes. Eastern Washington is growing. It's time we expand our infrastructure to match.

In the 21st century, broadband internet access is as basic a necessity as water, shelter, or electricity. For rural communities, access to broadband can expand learning opportunities through distance education, enhancing health and quality of life for patients by allowing them to see their doctors and nurses remotely, and furthering economic growth by breaking down barriers to the American Dream of entrepreneurship and free enterprise. Eastern Washington’s rural broadband development requires more substance than a vague, three-page, double-spaced bill from a representative who contradicts herself twice in the same video.

Rural broadband internet access also requires "net neutrality" protections to be effective. Mary Dye voted against the bill that just passed the House of Representatives with a strongly bipartisan 93-5 vote. Who is she really representing? You, or the cable companies that routinely donate to her campaign?
